About THE FILM
"Golden Wings"
BEHIND THE story
History 0f film
"Golden Wings" began as a modest student project by filmmaker Caleb Stewart, who set out to document the remarkable career of his mother, Robyn Stewart, a flight attendant with American Airlines for over 53 years. What started as a simple tribute to a single career quickly blossomed into a comprehensive exploration of the aviation industry's evolution through the eyes of those who lived it.
Captured entirely on a Samsung Galaxy S20, this documentary blends personal interviews with Robyn, historical footage, and firsthand accounts from her colleagues to paint a vivid portrait of the challenges and triumphs flight attendants have faced over the decades. From the era of girdle checks to the introduction of life-saving medical equipment on flights, "Golden Wings" reveals the significant transformations in the field.
As Caleb delved deeper, he uncovered stories of adversity and resilience, illustrating not only his mother's dedication but also the broader cultural and social shifts within the industry. This film, initially a student project, evolved into a larger narrative, resonating with broader themes of perseverance and change, becoming a tribute to all flight attendants and their critical role in shaping air travel.
